No folks, this is not a Wolf-Bear hybrid, this is Nelson! Nelson is a 4 year old, 75 lb., Shepherd mix. More importantly, he is a gentle giant, a big 'ole bundle of soft fluffy fur that begs to be hugged! Although Nelson is timid when first meeting new people he does FANTASTIC with all animals he has come across, including, chickens, goats, horses, and cows- I think he was made to be on a farm. He is good with cats but will playfully chase if they run. Nelson needs a home that will set clear rules and boundaries to keep building his confidence with people which is the area in which he clearly struggles. He is doing fantastic in his foster home and has a lot of potential. Nelson comes when called and he's learning "sit". He eats with the six other dogs in his foster home ranging in size from 60 lbs to 4 lbs. and waits for his food like a true gentleman. He is great with other dogs of all sizes! Nelson's foster mom is working on his leash skills and he does great- he only panics when he sees another person and for this reason we feel he would do best in a quiet country home. He is an amazing boy who is eager to learn and needs an assertive owner that will not feel sorry for him but rather set rules for him to live by. Nelson's adoptive home must have a fenced yard because he adjusts to people very quickly if a leash can be eliminated for the first few days. He truly is a diamond in the rough and will definitely do awesome in the right home. Nelson is neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. An application with references and a home visit are required to adopt.
